About Me

I recently applied for a job that required a 2 minute video. This was a difficult task for me. I love to present my work and can talk about web/digital design and development at the drop of a hat, but talk about myself…. well that’s hard. What to say, what to do, it needs to be creative and memorable, etc., etc.

I decided to turn the chalk board in my office into a hand lettering exercise. Letting them know about me and my background while also using some of my illustration skills that I don’t often have the ability to showcase. I am posting a quick tour of what I created.

1

Obviously it’s my name, my URL (with the hopes that they will actually come to this site and look at my portfolio) a quote that I love and try to follow on a daily basis. There’s other small items that I incorporated in various places as well, bees, chickens and some flowers (this will make sense later).

2

A list of places where I’ve lived as well as a list of things that I like. My goal was to not focus on specific skills, I submitted my resume at the same time, but instead to try and give them an idea of my personality. I wanted to create something that was bright, cheerful, busy and fun to look at, which I think I accomplished.

The wall space was awkward and I spent a long time trying to figure out spatially what would work where. I also spent some time online looking ay different fonts and trying them out. In creating this project along with all the sketchnoting I’ve been doing it’s been great to experiment with hand drawn fonts. I love the feeling of creating work by hand without always having a keyboard and a mouse to involve.

Who knows if I’ll get any response form the video that I submitted, but I’m happy with the way this wall turned out and will keep it up for a bit.

And yes, I can ride a unicycle.
